This policy is a general template published for transparency. It is being finalised with legal counsel and may be updated before the site's public launch.
1. Scope
This policy covers personal information collected through this website — for example when you submit the contact, volunteer or newsletter forms, or make a donation. It does not cover information collected offline or by third-party websites we link to.
2. Information we collect
Contact and volunteer forms: your name, email address, phone number, city, area of interest and any message you send.
Newsletter: your email address.
Donations: your name, contact details, PAN (where required for an 80G receipt) and payment reference. Card and bank details are handled by our payment provider, not stored by us.
Technical data: standard server logs and analytics data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited and referring page.
3. How we use it
To respond to your enquiry, process your volunteer or donation request, send the newsletter you asked for, issue receipts, keep statutory records, and understand and improve how the website is used. We do not sell personal information.
4. Our basis for processing
We process personal information on the basis of your consent (which you can withdraw), to take steps you have requested, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations as a not-for-profit in India.
5. When we share information
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the website and our programmes (such as hosting, email, analytics and payment processing), with our auditors and advisors, and where required by law or a valid government request. Providers are permitted to use the information only to provide their service to us.
6. Payments
Online donations are processed by Razorpay in Indian rupees. Your payment card or bank information is provided directly to the payment processor and is not stored on our servers. The processor's handling of that data is governed by its own privacy policy.
7. Cookies and analytics
The website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, to remember your language preference, and for aggregate analytics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; essential features may not work correctly if you do.
8. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, and as required for statutory, audit and donor-reporting obligations, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
9. Security
Information submitted through the site is transmitted over an encrypted connection and stored in access-controlled systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it.
10. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to confirm what information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in each email. To make a request, contact the foundation office using the details below.
11. Children's information
Some of our programmes involve students under 18. Information about a child is collected from a parent, guardian or school with consent, is limited to what a programme needs, and is not published without specific permission.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
